Join local calligrapher, Kate Edwards of
Quill and Curl Calligraphy, at the 42nd
Annual Arkansas Pen Show to learn
the basics of modern calligraphy! In
this two hour class you’ll learn about
the supplies used for pointed pen
calligraphy, how to hold a pen holder,
letterforms and how they’re assembled,
and troubleshooting tips and tricks.
You’ll walk away with the ability to get
ink flowing from nib to paper and all the
tools needed to practice and develop
your calligraphy skills. The class
registration fee includes a supply kit
that is yours to keep. Lefties welcome!
Registration fee: $75 - due at the

calligraphy experience. She has a

weddings, custom keepsakes, and live
calligraphy/engraving events. She has
been a member of the International
Association of Master Penmen,
Engrossers, and Teachers of
Handwriting (IAMPETH) since 2019.

Pocket Sketchbook
Join us Saturday afternoon at the Arkansas Pen Show for this fun, hands-on workshop. You’ll fold and customize your own pocket-sized sketch journal for ink swatching, journaling, urban sketches, collecting pen show ephemera. From one piece of premium paper you’ll fold a pocket-journal, which is both pocket-sized and has pockets inside and out. Then you’ll customize it with an accordion-fold page inserts, note cards & more. A brief introduction to Urban Sketching will provide you with creative ways to fill your journal, even for beginner sketchers. The size makes it easy to keep on-hand to fill throughout your day.. Once filled, your pocket-journal will turn into a quirky visual diary unique to you. Plus being a great souvenir of the Arkansas Pen Show. Materials will be provided for creating & customizing your pocket journal. Basic sketching supplies will be available for use in the classroom, or bring your own. Recommended: basic watercolor palette, waterbrush, pencil, PEN (waterproof ink), colored pencils and/or markers, (you do not need a lot of supplies, remember keep it portable)

This class would include touching- testing and
using the various filing systems and it will also
include a discussion on why not every nib works in every situation ( vintage flex for example).
Mike has pens taken apart so that the insides are viewable and can be more easily understood. Lisa will have a few modern pens apart as well and tools for the intermediate user when performing maintenance.
